Kentuckians and nonprofits will come together for a powerful day of action on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Kentucky and Baptist Health, Kentucky Gives Day is an innovative online fundraising event that encourages Kentuckians to donate as much money as possible in just 24 hours. Beginning at midnight EST on April 24 and continuing under 11:59 pm EST, Kentuckians will find 378 charitable 501(c)(3) organizations from across Kentucky on www.kygives.org and are encouraged to donate to their favorite causes.  To donate to The Foster Care Council of LexKy, visit http://kygives.razoo.com/story/The-Foster-Care-Council-Of-Lexky.

This first statewide online giving event in Kentucky is being coordinated by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network, Inc., Kentucky’s state association of nonprofits. An event of this scale provides charities with a cost effective way to promote the important work of the nonprofit community and hopes to bring both new donors and more dollars to organizations throughout the state. “The statewide gives day model has proven successful in other states and we are grateful for the support of our sponsors to be able to bring this opportunity to Kentucky’s nonprofits,” said Danielle Clore, executive director of Kentucky Nonprofit Network, Inc. “Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for participating charities in one day – really showcasing the power of philanthropy. We want to see what the Bluegrass State can do when charities and the Kentuckians they serve come together.”

At kygives.org, Kentucky nonprofits introduce their organizations and their important work to potential donors. Customized profiles of charities detail the charity’s mission, programs and events. “Kentuckians’ lives are touched every day by nonprofits – sometimes in ways we don’t even realize,” said Clore. “Our nonprofit community provides so much to Kentucky. We are excited to provide this opportunity for Kentuckians to come together give back to these organizations that serve us and our neighbors so well. ”
